The Occitanie Region and other public actors will once again support sectors in difficulty in the face of the consequences of the crisis.
The Covid-19 epidemic particularly affected Occitania at the economic level. To help tourism, local trade, and craft professionals to relaunch themselves, the Region has partnered with the Banque des Territoires (a branch of the Caisse des Dépôts), twelve departments including Lozère and nearly 150 to create the L'OCCAL fund, specifically dedicated to these businesses.
In total, public players will put almost € 80 million on the table. In Lozère, the Department and nine of its ten inter-municipal authorities will contribute a minimum of € 445,000.
With the participation of the Region and the Bank of the territories, this increases the amount to around 900,000 € for professionals from the Lozère region. It should be remembered that with 4,100 jobs, tourism is a crucial sector for the department.
Aid for cash flow and compliance with health measures
The L'OCCAL fund is in addition to the aid already paid by the public authorities. During the presentation of this device at the Maison de la Région in Mende, this Tuesday, Vice-President Aurélie Maillols underlined "a double objective: to help companies by repayable advances [at a rate of 0%] of aid to the treasury to allow them to restart, and support these companies in the implementation of the required sanitary measures ".
Thanks to this fund, for example, an owner of a clothing store with two employees will have, depending on the region, € 16,000 in cash and an arrangement of his shop up to € 2,500 to offer to mean. traffic.
The president of Lozère, Sophie Pantel, also counts on the mobilization of the French to come and consume there. "Vacationers will seek healthier destinations, with large spaces, where the virus is less present. The department, therefore, has a card to play thanks to its living environment," argues the president. A report will be drawn up at the end of the summer season.
